Symone Taylor
Summer Student Event Coordinator
Symone Taylor is Sawubona’s 2023 Canada Summer Jobs summer student and she is currently fulfilling the role of Event Coordinator. Symone is a recent high school graduate, interested in initiatives that positively impact the Black community. She has been intentional in involving herself in committees that focus on building up Black students, such as the DDSB Ad-Hoc Equity and Diversity Committee. There she served as the Student Representative from 2020 - 2022.
As Event Coordinator, Symone will be assisting Sawubona in the areas of marketing and media. In addition she will be working on our resource hub for Black caregivers and families. This is an initiative we have partnered with ASE Community Foundation to design. After discovering Sawubona, Symone felt she could relate to our mission to support caregivers, as she has a brother with special needs, and understands that families of these persons often lack resources.
In her personal time Symone enjoys traveling, cooking and hanging out with her friends. She is excited to be a part of the Sawubona team this summer!
