Hello folks,

Our book club begins next week Tuesday beginning 7:00 pm!

We will be working through each chapter of the Safe and Secure, Ontario Edition, resource monthly throughout the coming year. The first chapter/section is entitled: "Love is Not Enough"

It is a great resource to help us wrap our minds around future planning for our loved one and perhaps even ourselves. Future planning, planning for "after we are gone" or no longer have the capacity to keep up with the needs of our loved one(s) or ourselves, can be a difficult, emotional and even triggering conversation and too many of us are just not willing to go there.

According to a CIBC poll, roughly 52% of Canadians currently have a will in place. While 94% of people agree that a will is essential, actual completion rates lag significantly behind.

So you are not alone. Let's go there together.

Securing Futures is an 18-month, fee-for-service program for people with epilepsy that is personally tailored to each individual’s unique strengths, abilities, goals, and needs. The program provides practical skills and strategies designed to support greater independence and success in

everyday life.

Participants can develop:

 Health & Medical Skills

 Domestic & Household Skills

 Interpersonal Communication & Community Skills

Although located in Toronto, I don't come across alot of activities for the ABI community so thought I would share. Perhaps, if this is relevant to you and you live outside of Toronto, you can reach out to them directly to see if they run programs like these in your community.

A new program being offered by one of our partners and ASO.

Autism Ontario partners with D3P to offer children a six-week adapted basketball FUNdamentals program.

This inclusive basketball program teaches participants of all abilities the FUNdamentals of basketball in an adaptive and supportive environment. Sessions focus on skill-building, teamwork, and enjoyment with activities tailored to meet varying needs.

Program Location:  Playground Global Scarborough, 75 Thermos Road, Scarborough, ON M1L 0E6

Registration cost: $25 per child

Once registered and paid, refunds will not be issued.
