Welcome back to our first meeting for 2026! Zoom link for Tuesday January 13th 7:00 - 8:30 pm - topic of ODSP

The Sawubona team hopes that you had a great holiday season, able to slow down a bit and spend some extra time with family and friends or maybe just finding more time for YOU. But we also know that for some, it may have been a tough time for you or your loved one or even a time of loss. The holiday season is NOT necessarily the "most wonderful time of the year" and if this is the case for you, we send you best wishes for strength, peace and healing for the coming year.

To start off this new year, we have a guest speaker for our session this coming Tuesday.

Carla Dew is a Disability Funding Advocate who supports individuals with disabilities and their caregivers in applying for and accessing government programs that provide financial assistance and funding. With over 20 years of personal experience as both a caregiver and advocate for her son, Carla understands firsthand how overwhelming, confusing, and frustrating navigating the funding system can be. She founded her service to help individuals and families cut through government bureaucracy, understand their rights, and secure the benefits and support they are eligible for—and truly deserve.

Carla specializes in the Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP), with much experience in helping clients obtain the correct status and maximize their funding. Recently, Carla advocated for her son's ODSP status and funding to be changed, resulting in a significant financial benefit (over $350/month ODSP increase!!!!). Since securing funds for her son, Carla has been successful with ALL of her clients in getting their ODSP status changed and funding increased.

Carla is passionate about seeing individuals with disabilities and their caregiver(s) receive the funding that they are in need of, deserving of, and eligible for.

Please join us Tuesday January 13th beginning at 7:00 pm. This information will be relevant regardless of where you live across Ontario.
