Masabilities Saturday July 26th at Taibu CHC

Greeting folks,

For those who attended our Family Retreat back in May, Marty was the afternoon speaker. She is a professor, social worker and strong advocate for the Black and disabled community. This is her second year organizing this event and I am sure that it will be a great time! And she would love to see some great representation from the Sawubona community.

It's Carnival season in Toronto so what are you waiting for?

 Masabilities: Carnival Without Limits.

We are back for a second year celebrating a Disability inclusive and accessible MAS dance experience that celebrates Afro-Caribbean culture, identity and inclusion.

Founded by Marty Lampkin (she/her) of  https://www.martylampkinspeaks.com/  in partnership with Monique Pitt (she/her) this event is designed for Disabled individuals and their caregivers.

Our Mission at Masabilities is to create an inclusive Carnival Dance to address the needs of the Disabled African, Caribbean, Black Community. Masabilities focuses on addressing ableism currently in the Toronto Caribbean Carnival Parade that results in exclusion, isolation and segregation for Disabled African, Caribbean, Black community members and their caregivers.

Come and Dance to lively music, enjoy energetic moves, and be part of a supportive community. All skill levels are welcome! Bring your rag and flags!

 Saturday, July 26, 2025 12-2pm: Gender inclusive  TAIBU - Unit 1, 27 Tapscott Rd Scarborough, ON M1B 4Y7.

Tickets are on sale now: https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/masabilities-tickets-1416467094209

This year expect even more with ASL interpreters, live performances, a quiet space sensory room, raffle prizes and more!

Don’t miss out on this joyful, unforgettable experience. Let’s make this Carnival a celebration without limits, because everyone deserves to play ah MAS.

Dance session facilitated by Aleshia  Linton aka Sweat with Leesh.
