Black Moms Connection's Financial Literacy Program
Greetings,
My name is Amy, and I work with Black Moms Connection's Financial Literacy Program - FinLit U National. I would like to introduce our FinLit U National program and share some news with you and your organization. Thanks to our sponsor, TD Bank - TD Readiness Commitment, we are proud and excited to announce that the fourth National Cohort of our FinLit U Financial Literacy program is open for applications from Black Moms in our communities in western Canada, such as Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, and British Columbia.
In addition, we are looking for Financial Professionals that are interested in teaching Financial Literacy, understand the hardships and obstacles of the Black Mom and their families, and are available virtually for one of the sessions. We are actively building our database of Financial Professionals that are interested in sharing their knowledge and joining our growing community of speakers.
Please see the form https://forms.gle/bJWt8v4JY5Zi56RZ9 for details.
Black Moms Connection was founded on the belief that culturally relevant and curated programs accelerate the move towards achieving equity, slowed down by structural and institutional racism. This will create a better future for our children, community and society. We strongly believe that financial literacy is essential to building generational wealth and breaking cycles of poverty. We are committed to making progress that helps our community receive the knowledge it needs to succeed. FinLit U National is a financial literacy program, designed for and by the Black Community, specifically for Black mothers.
This program has successfully supported hundreds of moms in Ontario and we look forward to supporting and empowering moms in other provinces. It is designed to provide practical advice on topics such as budgeting, saving, and credit management. We also cover important topics like generational wealth and estates planning. FinLit U cohorts are led by a team of financial experts who understand the unique challenges facing our community. We believe our approach, which is rooted in cultural competence and understanding, will make a meaningful difference in the lives of many people.
